Q&A with Alexa Villa, AIT Technician

Written by:

Q: What excites you the most about working at a company like Apex?

The most exciting thing about working at Apex is the groundbreaking research and development being implemented within Apex’s satellite buses! We are no longer in the unknown territory of a startup; we can focus on the growth of the products and the people. While we may be considered a "small" team, it’s clear that we’ve made impressive advancements with Aries.

Q: Why are you excited about space?

I'm excited for this new age of exploration and discoveries, but more importantly, to witness the industry becoming more accessible to everyone. At a young age, I was told that being apart of aerospace would be out of reach since the rare opportunities would be granted to those with highly decorated degrees or years of experience. It's been 15 years since that first thought of doubt entered my mind, and after building airplanes, satellites, and rockets that have changed the world, I can vouch that aerospace has never been more inviting to people who have the drive to be a part of it!

Q: You are somewhat new here at Apex. What has surprised you the most so far?

After working in aviation and aerospace for almost one-third of my life, I can confidently say that the environment and people are why I'm experiencing one of the best work cultures to date. I feel that my ideas and my skills are valued, which makes coming to work a positive experience. I have become more confident in being a part of the team and an individual contributor to the evolution of satellites.

Q: Tell us a bit about what you do in your free time.

When I'm not building cool stuff at my job, I can be found thrifting, reading, and discovering new places to eat!
