Apex takes a selfie of its first space vehicle dubbed “Call to Adventure” demonstrating its satellite subsystems working less than a year from design to satellite commissioning—the fastest deployment ever in its class

Apex, a satellite manufacturer that launches its first Aries spacecraft on SpaceX’s Transporter-10 mission March 4, announced March 25 that the satellite has commissioned its first payload, a camera that took a “selfie” of the spacecraft with the Earth in the background.

Its Aries SN1 spacecraft, launched on the Transporter-10 mission, means the company progressed from a clean-sheet design to space flight in 12 months.

Apex just moved one step closer to its goal of upending satellite bus manufacturing, with the startup announcing on Tuesday that its first vehicle is healthy on orbit.

The Los Angeles-based company has made contact with and is successfully operating its Aries SN1 spacecraft
