Q&A with Joe Aubuchon, Systems Engineer

Written by:

Q: What excites you the most about working at a company like Apex?

What excites me the most is having the opportunity to design products that meet the broader market needs, rather than traditional cost-plus contracting where you design a product to a specific customer needs. The former allows you to be more creative, move much faster and provide a much more cost-effective product.

Q: Why are you excited about space?

I am excited by the growth and changes that are happening in the industry right now. Its exciting to see space transform from an industry that has mostly only been open to the big players and propped up by government to becoming an industry that’s open to new, smaller space companies and self-sustaining through commercial industries.

Q: You are somewhat new here at Apex. What has surprised you the most so far?

2 things:

1. The amount of interest in Apex coming from the government and commercial companies.

2. How much effort and focus the team is putting into sizing and adding the right capabilities to each platform to best fit the needs of the market.

Q: Tell us a bit about what you do in your free time.

I like to be active by playing soccer and pickleball, hang out with friends and travel!
