Q&A with Pedro Frias Vargas, Manufacturing Engineer

Written by:

Q: What excites you the most about working at a company like Apex?

A: What excites me the most about working at Apex is the opportunity to work with a lot of great and talented people from all sorts of backgrounds, while still maintaining the same goal of low-cost and high-rate production!

Q: Why are you excited about space?

A: Ever since moving to the United States from Mexico, I had been working in Agriculture for most of my childhood as a farm laborer, and every time I looked up I always aspired to learn more about space. One thing I clearly remember from my childhood is waking up at 3:30AM to go to work with my parents and being fascinated by stars and celestial objects that would blanket the sky every morning.  As I grew older watching Star Trek reruns further captivated and influenced me to pursue an education in Aerospace Engineering. It's truly amazing how many satellites I've worked on in my short 3 years in the Aerospace Industry, my younger self would be very proud.

Q: You are somewhat new here at Apex. What has surprised you the most so far?

A: The thing that has surprised me the most has been the welcoming atmosphere the company embraces. From day one I have been treated as if I had worked with the team since day one.

Q: Tell us a bit about what you do in your free time.

A: During my free time I like to go out and try new foods and restaurants all over SoCal while hanging out with close friends. Additionally, I also enjoy building and collecting LEGO which so happens to directly tie into what I do, building and making instructions to build satellites!
