Q&A with Luke Fernandes, Test Engineer

Q: What excites you the most about working at a company like Apex?
What excites me most about working at Apex is the opportunity to have a direct impact on how we design and scale our test infrastructure. As a test engineer, I’ve helped shape performance testing and implement test flows to support high-rate spacecraft production. Work that’s only possible because of the driven, technically sharp team I get to learn from every day.
Q: Why are you excited about space?
I’m excited about space because I believe the industry is only going to grow and play an even bigger role in our future. Being part of it right now, while it’s still rapidly evolving, is a rare opportunity. It feels like a privilege to contribute at this stage and help shape what’s to come.
Q: You are somewhat new here at Apex. What has surprised you the most so far?
What’s surprised me most is how forward-thinking and hard-working the team is. Even in a short time, I’ve seen rapid development, not just in the products, but in how the team operates and scales. There’s a real focus on moving fast without sacrificing quality, and it’s been impressive to watch how quickly ideas turn into action.
Q: Tell us a bit about what you do in your free time.
In my free time I like to stay active and explore. I enjoy hiking, going to concerts, and hunting for good finds while thrifting. I also love to play sports; especially soccer. I'm a huge Manchester United fan, and I'll watch them play every weekend... for better or worse.
